Out the back of The Nelson Arms there’s around 600 m² of outside space with more than 100 seats, part of it covered. Dogs on leads are welcome, children are welcome with an adult until 8pm, and there’s a free car park on site. No booking — just walk in.

Dogs welcome
Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in the garden and inside the pub. There are water bowls and dog treats at the bar.
Families until 8pm
Under-18s are welcome with an adult in the garden and lounge until 8pm. We run Challenge 25 at the bar.
Pizza in the yard
BlakJak Pizza bakes pizza from its horsebox Friday and Saturday, 4pm–8pm. See food & drink.
Free parking
Free on-site car park with around 12 spaces, plus free on-street parking on Victoria Road.
No booking
The garden is first come, first served. Walk in, get a pint at the bar and head through to the back.

Beer garden questions
Do I need to book a table at The Nelson Arms?
No. Walk-ins are always welcome and we don’t take table bookings for regular drinking. Find a seat in the stone-walled lounge or out in the 600 m² beer garden and order at the bar.
Are dogs allowed at The Nelson Arms?
Yes. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome inside the pub and throughout the beer garden, with water bowls and dog treats at the bar.
Can children come to The Nelson Arms?
Yes, until 8pm. Under-18s are welcome with an adult in the lounge and beer garden until 8pm. We run Challenge 25, so anyone who looks under 25 will be asked for photo ID at the bar.
Is there parking at The Nelson Arms?
Yes. There’s a free on-site car park with around 12 spaces, plus free on-street parking on Victoria Road. It fills up on Wednesday quiz nights, so arrive early.
Is The Nelson Arms wheelchair accessible?
The main bar, lounge and rear beer garden are on the ground floor and reached from street level. If you need step-free access or particular seating, email us before your visit and we’ll help.
